Meet the Lab

We learn and produce rigorous science according to Ms. Frizzle’s motto, “Take chances, make mistakes, get messy!”

Graduate Research Assistants

Mandie Flint

“Hello! My name is Mandie Flint. I graduated from St. Olaf College with a B.A. in Biology and Environmental Studies. I’m working on a Master’s degree at the University of Arkansas at Monticello to create educational materials and outreach campaigns regarding the use of mass timber and emergency infrastructure in rural communities that are more prone to disasters in the Mississippi Delta. Mass timber has almost exclusively been used in high-rise apartments, and I’m excited to connect with community leaders to raise awareness for a new use of mass timber, while simultaneously promoting the health of forests. After getting my Master’s, I hope to pursue a PhD and continue engaging with local communities about improving human-environment interactions, especially in areas most impacted by climate change.”

Eden Rozing

“My name is Eden Rozing. I graduated from Bard College at Simon's Rock with a B.A. in Environmental Studies. I'm working towards my M.S. at University of Arkansas at Monticello in order to further my education in wildlife management while contributing to conservation and environmental outreach. After UAM, I hope to continue on to the doctorate level and work with human-wildlife interactions.”

Undergraduate Research Assistants

Canine Research Assistants

Wesley

The lab’s lab, Wesley has been successfully engaging with (and winning the hearts of) stakeholders for ten years. His overly-friendly personality and charming smile puts folks at ease during data collection efforts.

Rhino

Named as a nod to a previous research project, Rhino is as much of a gentle giant as his namesake. The introvert of the lab, he excels in data analysis, drafting reports, and eating vegetables.
